History of Our School

Master McMahan

Master McMahan started taking martial arts in the 1970's. He began teaching Isshinryu in 1988 and founded North Knox Isshinryu in 2005 after teaching for Grand Master Pete Mills at Karate Sports Academy since 1990. Master McMahan is a veteran of several hundred tournaments winning many championships and awards. He no longer competes on the circuit, but still spars and trains with his students at the school. He also manages his son Brandon McMahan and several other amateur and professional fighter's and attends tournaments with our students. Martial Arts is simply just a part of who he is and he truly loves learning new things and perfecting his technique while teaching other's and watching them grow as martial artists.

Mixed Martial Arts Training is for the serious athlete. It combines many forms of the martial arts for fighting from a stand up position to an on the ground position. It also includes physical conditioning, intense cardio training, diet and fitness training.

These classes are taught by Sensei Brandon McMahan, 5th degree Go-Dan, and professional M.M.A. cage fighter. He has done martial arts all of his life. He is an extremely dedicated athlete and does a fantastic job of getting his fighter's ready for the cage.

Brandon has always loved Martial Arts and he continues to grow as a Martial Artist and athlete. He has also become a Great instructor and Coach.
